What you’ll be doing:

  • Patient Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical abilities, limitations, and functional goals.
  • Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, modalities, and functional training.
  • Rehabilitation and Intervention: Provide hands-on interventions, prescribe therapeutic exercises, and use specialized equipment to facilitate healing and recovery. Focus on improving muscle strength, flexibility, joint mobility, coordination, balance, and overall physical performance.
  • Patient Education and Home Exercise Programs: Educate patients about their condition, treatment options, and strategies for self-management. Develop home exercise programs and provide guidance on injury prevention, ergonomics, and lifestyle modifications to promote long-term well-being.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, physical therapy assistants and occupational therapists, to coordinate patient care and documentation.

Skills

  • Clinical Knowledge and Expertise: PTs should have a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and human movement. They need to stay updated with evidence-based practice and advancements in physical therapy techniques.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: PTs should possess excellent communication skills to establish rapport with patients, listen attentively, and provide clear instructions. They should be able to explain complex concepts in a way that patients can understand.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: PTs must be able to analyze patients’ conditions, interpret data, and make informed decisions regarding appropriate treatment approaches. They should be skilled in developing creative solutions and adapting interventions based on individual patient needs.
  • Empathy and Compassion: PTs should demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients, understanding their physical and emotional challenges, and providing support throughout the rehabilitation process.

 

Qualifications

  • Physical Therapy Doctoral Degree and/or Accredited PT Program
  • Georgia State Physical Therapist License
